Transportation

From the Airport: There are two types of transportation available from the airport to the medical center: MetroLink (light rail) or taxi.

MetroLink Light Rail System: The MetroLink is the best way to reach the medical center. Operating from 5:30 am to midnight, the cost is $3.75 from the airport. If you decide to take the MetroLink in the evening, you can call ahead to Medical School Security at (314) 362-4357 to arrange for an escort to accompany you from the MetroLink station to Olin Residence Hall.

If you ride MetroLink, get off at the Central West End station. After leaving the train, climb up the steps to Euclid Avenue. (Be sure to take the steps and not the walkway that leads to the bus terminal.) When you are at the top of the stairs, you are on Euclid Avenue. Turn left (south) and proceed as follows on Euclid Avenue:

If you arrive on MetroLink before 8 pm, proceed to the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center front door (approximately 1/2 block). Enter through the front door and proceed through the building and out the rear door. You will exit on to Scott Avenue. The building just down the street on your right is Olin Residence Hall (4550 Scott Ave.).

If you arrive on MetroLink after 8 pm, the Farrell Learning and Teaching Center will be locked and you will have to call Security from the vestibule of the building. After entering through the first glass doors, press the buzzer and tell the security officer that you are a visiting applicant. Once you are inside the building, signs are posted to direct you to Olin Residence Hall or to the School of Medicine Admissions Office.

If you are having any difficulty, please call Security at 362-4357.

Taxis: The approximate cost from the airport to the medical center is $35. Tell the driver that you are going to 4550 Scott Ave. on the School of Medicine campus. (Go west on Scott Avenue from Taylor Avenue.)

Arriving By Automobile: The medical center is located in the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Highway 40/64 and Kingshighway.

If you are traveling from east of the school, exit Highway 40/64 north onto Kingshighway. At the first intersection, Barnes-Jewish Hospital Plaza Drive, turn right (east) and proceed one block to Euclid Avenue. Turn right (south) on Euclid Avenue and proceed a half block to the stop sign at McKinley Avenue. Turn left (east) on McKinley. The Admissions Office is located a half block down at 4565 McKinley Ave., Room 100.

If you are traveling from west of St. Louis, exit Highway 40/64 north onto Kingshighway. At the first intersection, Barnes-Jewish Hospital Plaza Drive, turn right (east) and proceed for one block to Euclid Avenue. Turn right (south) on Euclid Avenue and proceed a half block to the stop sign at McKinley Avenue. Turn left (east) on McKinley. The Admissions Office is located a half block down at 4565 McKinley Ave., Room 100.

Parking

On-campus parking is available for applicants. Park on any of the surface lots in any parking space that is not reserved. Some of the parking lots will have security gates at the entrances. To access these lots, press the security call button and tell the officer that you are a visiting applicant and that you will be getting a daily permit from the Admissions Office. Be sure to see the appointment secretary in the Admissions Office for a parking pass for your car the day of the interview because the parking pass must be on your car by 8 am. Parking for Olin Residence Hall is also accessible from any of the surface parking lots in this area. You may also park in the parking garage at the intersection of Clayton and Taylor Avenue . You will receive a parking ticket when you enter the garage. Bring the ticket to the Admissions Office to be validated.
